Food Expo, Home Delights Expo, Beauty & Wellness Expo and Tea Fair Open in August
Chinese Medicine Conference to stage alongside
Providing one-stop sourcing platform for trade and public visitors
27 June 2017 – Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), Food Expo, Home Delights Expo, Beauty & Wellness Expo and Hong Kong International Tea Fair will open concurrently on 17 August 2017 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Meanwhile, the two-day International Conference of the Modernization of Chinese Medicine & Health Products (ICMCM), which is jointly organised with the Modernized Chinese Medicine International Association Ltd. (MCMIA), will be held on 17 and 18 August 2017.
Benjamin Chau, Deputy Executive Director, HKTDC, said “The HKTDC Food Expo is the annual signature summer event in Hong Kong. Together with the concurrent Home Delights Expo and Beauty & Wellness Expo, the public consumers can enjoy all-around shopping experience. There are also fairs and events targeting at trade buyers and industry players including the Food Expo’s Trade Hall, the International Tea Fair and ICMCM, offering an ideal platform for information exchange and sourcing to create crossover business possibilities.”
Food Expo: Serving international and local delicacies (17-21 August)
Entering its 28th edition, the Food Expo comprises three sections including Trade Hall, Gourmet Zone and Public Hall. It is expected to attract around 1,400 exhibitors from over 25 countries and regions. Last year, more than 490,000 public visitors attended the Food Expo and the concurrent Home Delights Expo and Beauty & Wellness Expo, while the Food Expo’s Trade Hall attracted nearly 21,000 trade buyers.
Trade Hall(17-19 August) features international pavilions including the Chinese mainland, Iran, Japan, Korea, Poland, Ukraine and the USA, as well as new pavilions from Canada, Czech Republic, India and Thailand. There are also various themed product zones including the Halal Food zone, the Chinese Medicine zone, as well as the Food and Agricultural Technology zone. The Trade Hall is dedicated to professional trade buyers on the first two days to explore business opportunities and establish partnerships with exhibitors, and will open to public visitors with ticket admission on the last day (19 August).
Gourmet Zone (17-20 August) targets at public visitors craving for high-end delicacies, gathering over 70 exhibitors under the themes of Asian Cuisine, Sweet Delight, Western Delicacy as well as Green Palate.[Best_Wordpress_Gallery id=”7″ gal_title=”Media Release – Gourmet Zone”]
Public Hall (17-21 August)’s Premium Food Zone features an array of popular brands including Kee Wah Bakery, On Kee Dry Seafood, Tai Pan, Maxim’s Caterers, Nissin, Vita Green and first-time exhibitor Yu Kwen Yick, a famous chili sauce brand. Also, the Hall will feature international pavilions including Canada, the Chinese mainland, Japan, Korea and Taiwan.
Home Delights Expo: Creating stylish homes (17-21 August)
The 4th edition of the Home Delights Expo will gather more than 160 exhibitors to showcase a range of quality electrical appliances and household products such as kitchen appliances, bedroom items, cookware, kitchen utensils and bar accessories.
The expo’s highlight is Avenue of Delights, which will feature numerous leading lifestyle brands from over 40 exhibitors including A-Fontane, CLP, German Pool, Kenwood, Ladyship, Maxcare, Meyer, OGAWA, OTO, Panasonic, Philips, STAUB, Towngas and ZWILLING J.A. HENCKELS.

Beauty & Wellness Expo: Grasping health and beauty trends (17-21 August)
Corresponding to the rising awareness of healthy lifestyle and huge demand for beauty products in the market, the HKTDC launched the inaugural Beauty & Wellness Expo last year. The expo returns this year to gather more than 80 exhibitors, showcasing skincare products, hair care products, spa massage products, nail polish and health products. Some of the exhibiting local brand names include BE.ST, Easy Beauty, Fasary and Gienne.
For the first time, the Cosmetic & Perfumery Association of Hong Kong Ltd will feature 15 local exhibitors to present skincare products. The expo will also welcome new pavilions from Taiwan and Korea. Besides, the Beauty Salon zone organised by the Federation of Beauty Industry (H.K.) will return this year for the award-winning entrepreneurs and beauty salons to showcase their corporate philosophies.[Best_Wordpress_Gallery id=”20″ gal_title=”Media Release – Beauty & Wellness Expo”]
Onsite activities to enhance shopping experience
A number of activities will be organised throughout the fair period. More than 20 celebrity chefs and famous F&B bloggers will present cooking demonstrations by utilising popular kitchenware. These include the popular cooking show host Steve Lee, Chan Hon Cheong who is Chef de Cuisine of Grand Hyatt Hotel’s One Harbour Road, Ricky Cheung who is Head Chef of Bistro Bon, Jaakko Sorsa who is Executive Chef of FINDS, Hilda Leung and Veggie Mom Christine Cheung who are Culinary Ambassadors of Green Monday “Green It Yourself” Programme, Jeffery Koo who is Founder and Executive Pastry Chef of Patisserie Jeffery Koo, Vincent Leroux who is Director of Institute Culinaire Disciples Escoffier, Kit Tsui who is Tempura Chef of Inagiku Grande Japanese Restaurant, Yoko Tsang who is beauty and food therapy columnist, Saito Chau who is Head Chef of Hutong, and Chan Kei Ying, Executive Chef of Shun De Kung.
There will be seminars to discuss diet and health issues including healthy cooking with less salt and sugar, food recycling, the food map 2017–2018 Wan Chai a La Carte and “Vegan & Fitness” sharing session. Besides, beauty experts will share tips on simple hair styling, makeup for oily skin and festive party in summer time. Other activities include product demonstrations by exhibitors, lucky draw and product bidding.
Tea Fair: Brewing opportunities in tea business (17-19 August)
Hong Kong International Tea Fair is a premier platform for promoting business in the tea industry. The 9th edition will run from 17 to 19 August, gathering more than 200 exhibitors from different countries and regions, including the Chinese mainland, Japan and Sri Lanka, which are renowned for their quality tea. In 2016, the fair attracted over 15,000 international trade buyers.
The fair will open exclusively to trade buyers on 17 and 18 August, and welcome public ticket-holders on 19 August. Exhibitors will present their related tea products, including tea, tea packaging, tea processing equipment and testing services, tea ware, tea craft and tea technology. Visitors can also enjoy tea-food pairing experience at the Friends of Tea zone, where sweets, snacks and biscuits will be showcased.
A series of events will be held during the fair including the International Tea Competition 2017. Through blind-tasting, a panel of professional judges will review the tea entries of different categories including Green Tea, Oolong Tea, Black Tea (Orthodox), Black Tea (C.T.C.), Chinese Black Tea and Pu’er Tea. Other events include tea tasting sessions, international cup warming, tea art performances, seminar on marketing strategy and buyers’ forum for the industry players to exchange information.
On the public day (19 August), there will be the International KamCha Competition 2017 (Hong Kong Style-Milk Tea) International Final where Hong Kong and regional champions from Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Beijing, Melbourne and Toronto will fight for the winning title. The Yuan Yang Final will also be staged alongside. Public ticket-holders can also join a series of Tea Forums delivered by industry experts on topics like tea therapy insights, tea and zen, as well as tea and food pairing.

ICMCM (17-18 August)
Organised by the HKTDC and the Modernized Chinese Medicine International Association Ltd (MCMIA), the International Conference of the Modernization of Chinese Medicine & Health Products (ICMCM) will take place on 17 and 18 August to keep practitioners abreast of the latest trends and developments. Heavyweight speakers from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Korea and Macau will share views on products’ quality control, pharmacology, commercialisation and successful cases sharing.
On 19 August, public ticket-holders can join the Public Forum sessions with professional Chinese medicine practitioners to discuss on various common issues including shoulder and neck pain, gout, adolescent scoliosis, lumbar pain, diabetes, foot and knee joint pain.[Best_Wordpress_Gallery id=”21″ gal_title=”Media Release – ICMCM”]
