Reports to: Head of Aviation Medicine

The position supports Corporate Medical Department Occupational Health and Aviation Medicine teams as the responsible person for psychological/psychiatric services and mental health & wellness matters. The position provides 24/7 response to requests for support to Cathay Pacific (CPA) and Cathay Dragon and if directed will support CPA’s subsidiaries in ad hoc or critical incidents.

Key Responsibilities

● Promote and increase employee and crew awareness on mental health and wellness for occupational health and safety purposes
● Manage the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP, which provides bulk of psychological/clinical interventions for employees and dependents) from contract proposal, service quality control to daily administrative matters
● Direct external EAP vendor to ensure resources and programmes are created and adapted to obtain best fit and best value for employees and company
● Provide timely and appropriate psychological evaluations and interventions for employees in need
● Manage absence cases related to psychological conditions in conjunction with the employee’s department, Occupational Health team and People Department representatives to facilitate duty of care and return to productivity
● Investigate and evaluate ad hoc cases of concern about employees’ psychological fitness for work, especially in safety sensitive duties
● Support implementation company’s AOD programme
● Advise & support management on matters pertaining to handling of employees mental health issues
● Advocate, develop and educate about Critical Incident Stress management protocols as duty of care for employees exposed to critical incidents at work
● Support company crisis intervention and management
● Design, develop and conduct training and education for management and employees on application of psychology to enhance interpersonal job skills, personal coping and productivity.
● Develop, implement and maintain processes for decision-making on exceptional approvals for psychological expenses
● Develop and maintain E & A protocols for Corporate Medical’s role in a corporate crisis
● Undertake ad hoc projects and duties as required by the Department of company

Requirements

● Clinical psychologist with minimum 3 years’ experience
● Knowledge of healthcare delivery system in Hong Kong a plus.
● Overseas medical training and work experience is a plus.
● Excellent command of spoken and written English. Spoken and written Chinese (Cantonese and/or Putonghua) is an advantage but not a must.
● Polished interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact in a multicultural environment.
● Sound problem solving, planning and organization skills. Able to independently manage and prioritize multiple tasks within defined time constraints.
● An assertive, self-assured and patient team-player who can exercise a high level of professionalism and sound judgement at all times.

Reports to: Head of Aviation Medicine

Purpose

● To provide efficient aviation medical services including pre-employment , annual medical and medical monitoring for the pilots
● To facilitate efficient process and follow up of pilots requiring medical clearance
● To provide the passenger fitness to fly assessment for the passengers requiring medical assistance
● To provide aviation and medical advises to the FOP, occupational health units and various departments of the Company

Key Responsibilities

● Flight Crew Licensing : Pilot Medical Examination for the initial application and renewal of medical certificate
● Pre-employment Medical: Screening and Medical Examination for the Cadet and qualified pilots.
● MEDA clearance: Review medical information of passengers with medical conditions requiring require medical assistance or equipment and to advise on their fitness to fly as passenger status.
● Fitness for duties assessment: Review referred cases from FOP with concern for medical or performance issues and to assess if the pilots would be able to perform the inherit duties of their job.
● 24 hours on call duty doctor to offer medical advices to pilots including drugs prescription, fitness for duties assessment and inflight incapacitation follow up.
● Absence management: Early follow up of medical cases (both physical and psychological) requiring HKCAD or internal medical clearances to facilitate prompt return to work and to communicate with FOP regularly providing non-medical data to support the absence management program.
● Fatigue Risk Management: Advice pilots on the roster and management of cases with fatigue and circadian disorders.
● Loss of license and medical retirement assessment: Review medical information and to advise on the suitability of loss of license for pilots and medical retirement for cabin crews and ground staffs.
● Drug and Alcohol medical Monitoring: Initial assessment and medical monitoring for pilots with drug and alcohol issues and to facilitate prompt return to work after satisfactory rehabilitation.
● To liaise and support Occupational Health Unit in the areas of on aviation environment such as inflight water, radiation, infectious and contagious diseases and be responsible for the ordering and safe keeping and disposal of drugs ( including dangerous drugs) in compliance with the regulation of Department of Health in Hong Kong.

Requirements

● Registered medical practitioner and an Aviation Medical examiner (AME) in H.K, with a Diploma in Aviation Medicine preferred.
● Minimum 5 years post-qualification clinical experience, preferably broad based primary care (such as GP, FP, internal medicine and preventive care). Overseas medical training and work experience a plus.
● Excellent command of spoken and written English

The jobholder is responsible for supporting the Company to develop, implement and maintain corporate occupational health policies and protocols to manage their occupational health (OH) and medical needs.

Key Responsibilities

Work closely with various internal and external stakeholders on OH related programmes such as:

● Medical benefit planning and support.
● Emergency & Accident planning.
● Health promotion.
● Absence management to enable early intervention and return to work.
● Coordination of pre-employment examinations and fitness for duty assessments.
● Development and review of procedures for in-flight medical incidents, including Inflight Medical Provisions e.g. inflight medical kits, first aid kits, inflight protocols, water and food hygiene monitoring.
● Public Health and Crisis Management
● Passenger Services such as accommodations for passengers with disabilities, passenger complaint management and investigation, etc.
● Support implementation of Company Alcohol and Others Drugs (AOD) Programme

Requirements

● Minimum 5 years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse preferably in Intensive Care, Coronary Care, and Emergency Medicine fields.
● Current license in Hong Kong is preferred, but not a must.
● Previous administrative and/or management experience preferred, especially in OH.
● Knowledge of healthcare delivery system in Hong Kong a plus.
